Volunteer Opportunities
Airdire Public Library welcomes volunteers in a number of Library departments and to assist with a variety of Library events.
We are currently seeking volunteers to fill the following duties:
No current special projects.
The following volunteer opportunities exist at Airdrie Public Library on an ongoing basis:
Circulation Services
- Shelving materials
- Shelf Reading
- Assisting customers with SCOT (Self Check Out Terminal)
Book Sale:
- help process materials for the library’s ongoing book sale;
- sort and organize book sale items; and
- help with promotions and special events that involve the book sale.
- The time commitment is a minimum of a couple hours per week.
Technical Services
- Unpack, clean sort materials that arrive via courier and Canada post.
- Alphabetize and file address labels
- Unpack and stamp new material
- Reinforce new catalogued print items with tape
- Copy barcodes onto audio materials
Communications / Marketing
- Print and fold materials
- Stuff envelopes
Information Services
- Organize Book Sale materials
- Serve as a Technology Tutor
- Assist with teaching computer classes
Special Events
- Set up and decorate
- Meet and greet
- Serve or sell items
- Assist with crafts and reading circles (SRP)
- Sell tickets
- Clean up

- Bids & Bites @ Your Library Silent & Live Auction (May 13, 2011)
- Summer Reading Program (July and August)
- Summer Reading Program Celebration (August 19, 2011)
