APL Author Series: Liz Howard

Join us for a celebration of the arts! The evening features an author reading and intimate discussion with Liz Howard, along with live music by David Bradford, refreshments, book signings, and a prize draw.


About the Author:

Liz Howard is the 2018-2019 Canadian Writer-in-Residence at the University of Calgary. Her Infinite Citizen of the Shaking Tent won the 2016 Griffin Poetry Prize, the first time the prize has been awarded to a debut collection. It was also a finalist for the 2015 Governor General’s Award for Poetry, A Globe and Mail top 100 book, and received an honourable mention for the Alanna Bondar Memorial Book Prize. Her chapbook Skullambient was shortlisted for the bpNichol Chapbook Award.

Howard received an Honours Bachelor of Science with High Distinction from the University of Toronto, and an MFA in Creative Writing through the University of Guelph. She is of mixed European and Anishinaabe descent. Born and raised on Treaty 9 territory in northern Ontario, she now lives in Toronto and assists with research on the aging brain.

Liz will begin her residency in September 2018.

David Bradford is a powerful acoustic country/folk singer/songwriter from Calgary, Alberta. Originally from the U.S., David connected with words and music at an early age. The result is a sincere and empathetic storyteller.
