Community Wellness

Airdrie Public Library is proud to present free information sessions on a variety of  health and wellness topics throughout the year.

The sessions are open to everyone. RSVP is preferred and can be conducted online, by phone, or in person.

Presented by Alberta Health Services, Community Links and Highland Primary Care Network.


 

Stressed Out and Down

April 3rd, April 18th, April 24th, May 1st, May 8th
Time: 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
Location: Program Room

In this 5 week session we will learn about anxiety, depression and stress. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their own wellness plans, to assist them to cope more effectively in the future.

Understanding Trauma - Part 2

Explores the impact of trauma on our Cognitions, at different developmental stages and in our social interpersonal relationships.


 

Woman to Woman

 A discussion on common female health issues; led by the Women’s Health Lead (RN), Women’s Health Clinic in Airdrie.

Our children and youth walk around with the world at their fingertips; cell phones, ipads, video games, and other forms of technology have influenced our society greatly. Parents, come learn about the effects of screen time on children and youth involving sleep patterns and social skills, internet safety, tools to help put parameters on their screen time, and parental role modeling.

 

Understanding Self Care

This session will focus on developing a basic understanding of what self-care is and why it’s an important part of our everyday lives. Attendees will leave this session with basic knowledge of strategies for incorporating self-care into their daily routines.


 

Couple Communication – Part 1

Explores the characteristics of healthy relationships, communication and conflict styles, empathy and active Listening.

Grief and Loss

May 30th, 2017
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Location: Program Room

Grief and loss are unique to everyone and we hope after this session you’ll gain greater understanding of what this can look like. We will talk about the different grieving styles, grief process and the effects grief can have on our lives. We hope this session will support you as you move through the journey of grief.


Couple Communication – Part 2

June 6th, 2017

Explores conflict resolution skills, respectful relationship beliefs and understanding equality in healthy relationships.
