Free information sessions on a variety of wellness topics presented by Addiction and Mental Health, Community Links, and Highland Primary Care Network. These sessions are open to everyone. RSVP is preferred and can be conducted online, by phone, or in person.
 
Slowing Down Your Racing Mind – Relaxation and Meditation
September 14th, 2017
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Description: This workshop will help you connect with yourself through learning tools and strategies to reduce stress, decrease repetitious anxiety and eliminate “worry thoughts.”  Relaxation and meditation exercises, designed for in-the-moment use when feeling overwhelmed, will be introduced. This workshop will be a great addition to your self-care and personal development practice. 


 
Grief
October 12th, 2017
Time: 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
Description: Grief and loss are unique to everyone and we hope after this session you’ll gain greater understanding of what this can look like.  We will talk about the different grieving styles, grief process and the effects grief can have on our lives.   We hope this session will support you as you move through the journey of grief.


 
Tackling Pain
November 9th, 2017
Time: 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
Description: This session will help participants to gain a better understanding of chronic pain, its causes and strategies to manage it.


 
Self-Compassion Mindfulness Practice
December 14th, 2017
Time: 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
Description: This workshop will include Strategies that assist one in relaxation, empowerment and self-compassion meditation practice.   The facilitator will include a short guided meditation at the end of this workshop referenced from Self -Compassion Step by Step by Kristen Neff PHD.  Benefits for mindfulness practice as cited from the American Psychological Association include a hopeful strategy for alleviating depression and anxiety. Mindfulness can also assist one in replacing negative thinking with positive thinking integrating self-compassion, strong self-care tools and nonjudgment of self.
