Position Title:  Junior Program Supervisor
Reports to:  Programming and Customer Engagement Manager

Position Summary:
The Junior Program Supervisor ensures the delivery of outstanding programs and events for children and teens, and is responsible for junior program development, coordination, and assessment both within the library and off-site.  The Junior Program Supervisor provides excellent Information services, acts as a shift supervisor, and supports the Programming and Customer Engagement Manager in meeting Plan of Service goals and objectives.
Required Training, Experience, Skills

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent
  • Experience in public libraries, event planning, program development, and children and teen services strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience working with children and teens essential
  • Program delivery experience essential
  • Superior communication, presentation, technology and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Relevant non-profit experience an asset

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports and makes recommendations to the Programming and Customer Engagement Manager on children and teen programming initiatives
  • Supports Manager in developing innovative strategies to reach children and youth in the community
  • Plans and delivers off and on-site programs for children and teens
  • Maintains and develops relationships with schools and other community partners
  • Provides information service as a member of the Information Services Team
  • Acts as a shift supervisor
  • Supervises the Summer Reading Program staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Employment Terms:

  • Monday to Friday, with evening and weekend supervisor shifts required
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • $22.54-$28.81 per hour (*2017 rates)
  • Excellent benefit package including pension and supplementary pension
