Position Title: Library Assistant 3 (Public Service)

Reports to: Customer Service Manager

Airdrie Public Library is a member of the Marigold Library System and is one of the fastest growing libraries in one of the fastest growing cities in Alberta. The library has an immediate opening for a library assistant in Public Service.

Position Summary: Public Service staff members assist customers with their information, leisure, and technology needs while providing timely, effective and friendly interactions.

Required Training, Experience, Skills

  • Library Technician Diploma or Post-Secondary Degree

  • Customer service experience required

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Comfortable with technology

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities

  • Flexible and open to change

  • Ability to work in collaboration with a team

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Stand and/or sit at a computer for long periods of time

  • Reach or stoop for short period of time

  • Lift weights up to 5 kg.

  • Push or pull fully-loaded book carts

  • Mobility (able to deliver roving assistance)

Assets:

  • Public library experience an asset

Employment Terms:

  • 8-20 hours per week

  • Must be available for regular shifts during weekday (including mornings, afternoons and evenings).

  • Regular evening shift each week required.

  • Regular and/or rotational weekend shifts required.

  • Ability to maintain a regular work schedule.

  • Wage range: $17.42 - $21.77
