Unattended Child Policy

Airdrie Public Library welcomes children to use its facilities and services, but we cannot be responsible for their safety or supervision. For the safety and comfort of children, it is the policy of the APL Board that a guardian (parent, legal guardian, or other adult caregiver) accompany children while they are using the library and its services. Guardians are to be solely responsible for the safety and supervision of their children.

  • Children under five must be accompanied by a guardian at all times.
  • Children ages five to eight are to be accompanied by a guardian who must remain within the library facilities.
  • Children aged nine or older may visit the library independently on terms determined by their guardian.

Library staff members are not responsible for children left unattended in library facilities or on surrounding premises.
