Genealogy Group

The Genealogy Group at Airdrie Public Library was started four years ago. The focus of the group is to help you get started tracing your roots. You’ll learn what books to read, what databases are available to the amateur genealogist and what questions to ask when you want to get to know your “roots”!

APL’s Genealogy Group has a great connection with the Calgary Public Library through their Genealogy Specialist. The Calgary Public Library’s genealogy collection is fabulous and members of APL’s Genealogy Group can chose to take a tour of their holdings in the Fall.

In 2007, APL joined the Marigold Library System and received access to numerous e-resources, including the Ancestry software library edition. This resource is only accessible while in the Library. Other Library resources include a number of genealogy self-help books, and the magazine Family Tree. Need help tracing your roots? Join APL’s Genealogy Group!

The Library’s Genealogy Group meets the second Monday of each month, September to June, from 7 to 8:30 pm. When possible, we bring in guest speakers.

When:

  • April 12
  • May 10
  • June 14

*The group does not meet over the summer
