Adaptive Technology Station
APL is very proud of our brand new Adaptive Technology Station. This specially developed station provides tools to seniors and those requiring a little extra help....
-
Those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities or vision issues can benefit from our Kurzweil software that reads aloud scanned materials.
-
These individuals, as well as seniors, can also benefit from using the Merlin reader that allows a user to place a book, legal document or even a pill bottle under its magnifier.
-
Those customers interested in learning a language or those who wish to learn English as a second language will be able to access Tell Me More, our online language learning program, from any of the computers in the Library or from home, as well as at the Adaptive Technology Station.
-
Peripherals like a specially designed mouse and keyboard assist users with physical disabilities to easily use the equipment.
The station is located on a special desk that can be raised or lowered at the push of a button, accommodating both those in wheelchairs and those who prefer to stand.
Library staff at our Information desk are available to show you how to use this special equipment. Just ask!
