About RISE

What is RISE?

RISE stands for Rural Information Services initiativE, and was funded by a grant from the Rural Alberta’s Development Fund (RADF). RISE is a collaborative approach to enhancing local community services through a “partnership of partnerships”. RISE video conferencing links southern Alberta communities of all sizes in a library-based video conference network. RISE reachs more than 450,000 people in 89 municipalities throughout southern Alberta.

Airdrie Public Library was chosen as one of the six pilot libraries within the Marigold system to receive the RISE equipment, and it arrived in early spring 2009.  APL Staff have been benefiting from our many staff workshops and training sessions. Upcoming training sessions in June will help our staff be able to access and find medical and legal resources quickly and efficiently for the community. The possibilities are endless with RISE video conferencing! From June to August there will be RISE presentations for the community to ensure that we can offer relevant programs in the fall.
