Donating Books & Other Items
Guidelines:
Airdrie Public Library is happy to accept the following types of new and used materials:
- Fiction in very good condition
- Paperbacks in very good condition
- Nonfiction in very good condition & published within the last 5
- years: Pub date may be older for nonfiction such as biographies & other subject areas where currency is not an issue
- DVDs, CDs and Book CDs
We cannot accept:
- Materials that are damaged, yellowed, mouldy or in poor
- condition
- Magazines (we retain magazines for 2 years & rely on electronic editions)
- Text books older than 5 years
- Cassettes or Video (we no longer carry those formats)
- Encyclopedias
- Reader’s Digest Condensed books
- Other materials that require staff time & library funds to recycle/dispose
Donations that are not added to Airdrie Public Library's collection may be sent to regional headquarters at Marigold and offered to other libraries or may be used to generate funds for the Library through book sales.
If you'd like a tax receipt for your donation, you must provide Airdrie Public Library with documentation from a professional appraisal. Appraisers can be found in the yellow pages under “Appraisers”.
