(Airdrie, AB) – The Airdrie Public Library (APL) Board is thrilled that Airdrie City Council has endorsed the new Library Functional Program. The Functional Program describes space requirements and key components required in the new library facility.

Library space is set at 60,000 sq. ft. and includes multiple program rooms for library programming and public booking, and separate areas for preschoolers, school-aged children, and teens.  The library’s collection will grow from 80,000 to 160,000 items. There will be space for a community living room, a separate reading lounge, and a dedicated quiet space for independent reading and study.

Up to an additional 25,000 sq. ft. will be available for other community uses, for a maximum building size of 85,000 sq. ft.
