Family Literacy Day
Take a journey to learning at your library and help us celebrate Family Literacy Day with great activities for your whole family.
When: Friday, January 27, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to talk, sing, play, write and read their way around the world by visiting interactive stations throughout the library.
- 2 - 4 p.m.: School-aged children are invited to take a virtual, interactive tour of Royal Tyrell Museum and enjoy reading and playing Wii with a celebrity guest.
- 3:30 p.m.: Join us at the fireplace for refreshments and the dedication of our new literacy computer.
- All day: Read away your fines! On Family Literacy Day collect a "Read Away Your Fines" card from library staff and read with a child in the library for at least 15 minutes and have $5 in fines waived from your library card. Read for another 15 minutes and have another $5 waived!*
*Limit of $15 of fines removed per family; no credits. Not applicable for replacement costs of lost or damaged items. You must present the "Read Away Your Fines" card and any library cards you wish to remove fines from to the Circulation Desk on January 27, 2012.
