Poetry in Motion Contest
This is an annual contest inviting local poets to submit up to three poems for the chance to have one poem displayed on Airdrie buses in the fall of 2024
Here's what you need to know:

From June 3rd to June 30 (midnight), local poets can submit up to three poems, each no longer than 11 lines (title included).

There are two categories: Youth (ages 13-17) and Open (18+).

Rules:

  1. Contestants must have a valid Airdrie Public Library card to enter. Enter in one category only. Youth must be between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age during the period of the contest.
  2. Submit up to three poems, each no longer than eleven lines including the title. We invite poetry written in languages other than English
  3. Previously published work may be submitted. Copyright remains with the author, although the Airdrie Public Library retains the right to publish/republish winning and short-listed entries.
  4. Entries will be accepted online between June 3-30, 2024.
  5. Blind judging will be used, so please start each poem on a new page and do not include your name or any other identifying information on the page on which the poem appears.
  6. The winner in each category will receive a prize. Selected poems will appear on Airdrie Transit buses. Previous winners are encouraged to submit to the contest for possible publication but are not eligible to win again.
