For the Parents

Who am I?

I am Jamieson Gardiner, Digital Literacy Programmer at the Airdrie Public Library. I have a year of experience in the library system educating patrons on topic such as 3D Printing, Coding, and Digital Art.

What are we doing?

The great space race is part of the Makerspace Gamification project in preparation for moving into our new facility. In this program we will continue to deliver the fun and educational experience's you and your kids have come to love, framed in a system of achievement hunting and game systems to encourage participants to engage more fully in Makerspace activities.

What are Maker Crews?

Each Participant will be assigned to a crew upon attending their first space race activity. The crew acts as a soft team dynamic that will collect points from the participants achievements. These points will be accumulated and recorded to determine an eventual space race winner.

How does the Space Race end?

On October 14th the Library will be throwing a large Space Race Tech Fair. At this fair the public can come and learn about technology, see some patron projects on display, and play games for all ages. This will be the day where the Space race ends and teams are recognized for achievements aside from winning. This includes a video montage of activities and essential game achievements.
